How To Build A Solar Energy
Generator
Why you need to build solar energy
generator
Solar energy seems like a complex and
cumbersome area. This is why big companies use this for their benefit to make more money from their customers.
Green
energy is a clean one, free for use so why not use it? Probably the main reason is that someone told you
that it cost a lot to build such a system not to mention it is very difficult. The common numbers that run for
such a system are thousands of dollars and with these numbers anyone can understand why this is not so
commonly used power source as it should be. No one tells you that you can build such a system in
less than $200.

Use of green energy can benefit you in many ways:
- Save money on the monthly electricity bill
- Help in case of power outage
- Gain money in case you produce more then you consume by selling the excessive
power to your local power company
- Take pride in direct contribution to the fight against global warming and
cleaner planet
- Fun activity with your family
The components
There are several parts for such a system and here we are going to explain their
role. You can find these parts in any DIY store next to you or in specialty stores for electricity. The main parts
are Solar Panel, Battery, battery box,
DC Meter, DC input and inverter (in case you want to power AC appliances
- Solar Panel - a solar panel comes in
various sizes but you might want to start with one that produces 12 to 16 volts of electricity.
- Battery - It should be a 12 volt deep cycle battery which can be used many
times over and over again. It should be made from either gel, acid, or lead.
- Battery box – The battery box will cover up the terminals. This is a very
cheap component
- DC Meter – Should be 12 volts.
- DC Input – you’ll need it to power your DC products.
- Inverter – The inverter can transform DC
current from the battery into AC current and this is to power your AC products. The inverter should be 115
volts and 140 watts.
Important - Before you begin you must know how much wattage you want to produce in
order to power your appliances. This is a simple math calculation in which you simply need to sum the watts of the
appliances that are going to be powered by this system. Here is an example: if your TV needs 40 watts and your
computer require 20 watts, and the light bulb is 10 watts then you need to build a system that is 70
watts.
How
- Drill meter and DC input to the top of the battery box.
- Attach the meter to the terminals of the batter with a insulated wire. Few
safety notes:
-
- The negative poles should be connected first.
- Connect only one wire at a time.
- Attach the DC inlet to the battery in the same manner.
- Attach the solar panel to the battery using the same method.
- Close the lid.
- Position the solar panel and put it in a place where
the sunlight will strike it directly. 8 hours will suffice to charge dead battery.
The larger the panel and the battery capacity the more power you can provide to your home.
