the
energy rating (star) of them. This rating is an indication on how the appliance is efficient in use of energy.
If you find low rating this is an indication that your appliance use a lot of energy and inefficiently
-
Lighting and bulbs: replace your bulbs to CFL. They might cost 2-3 times more than
regular light bulb but use less the one third of the energy required for incandescent light bulb
and lasts 10 times more
-
Dishwasher: operate your dishwasher only if it is full. Try to wash your dishes by hand
and air dry them.
-
Clothes: use low temperatures. Most cleaning detergents work great today with low
temperatures. Instead of drying them in a dryer (which also ruins them) hand them out in the air
to dry. Don’t use your washer or dryer is not full.
-
Refrigerators: Think of what you want to take out before you open the refrigerator.
Leaving the door open will waste extra energy.
-
Showers: take showers and not baths. By that you are using less water and reducing the
water heating electricity
-
Appliances stand by: turn your appliance off. Don’t leave them on standby as they consume
energy. Check your TV, DVD, game counsels, MP3 and chargers etc. if you really want to save more,
take off your appliance from the outlet since even when they are turned off, they consume some
small energy.
-
Doors and windows insulation: Check the insulation of the doors and windows to find gaps.
From such each gap air is running and by that increase your temperature conditioning in your home.
Hot air (during winter) or cold air (during summer) can flow out and by that make your air
conditioner work harder to keep nice temperature
