The Energy
Crisis
Over the last few decades and especially
in the last ten years the world is marching in a stable, consistent and quick pace into a major energy crisis.
On one end the over growing and overwhelming demand for power and on the other end the amount of consumable
sources for power creation such as oil, coal etc are declining. It almost looks like the world is taking the
ability to create electricity as given and no one actually is willing to take the steps to fix this. The steps
of recognizing the problem, taking action and trying to fix it are becoming more often, more powerful and most
importantly, visible. It comes from all level – governments, communities, simple people that care about our
planet, green environment activists, and companies with high value to our nature and so on. Gladly, the
awareness is growing every day to allow ourselves to take more notice and really take active actions to reduce
the problem.
If you Want to join this, take a look at Earth 4 Energy
guide.
Over the last 50 years the prices of consumable sources such as oil and gas are growing constantly.
Anyone is familiar with the energy crisis in 1973, in 1979 and in 1990. The most recent one was just in 2008 where
the prices of crude oil sky rocketed to almost 150$ per barrel and impacted directly the cost of gas to our cars,
prices of product made of oil and so on. So it is NOT a myth and we have real experience with that.
Since the demand for electricity is growing and since the supply side is declining, the simple rule of
economy states that the prices will rise. This happened and without proper alternatives, the current prices of
energy will keep rising to a level that we’ll miss the current prices
So you might think, we are over reacting and the amount of oil is sufficient. Let me tell you some
facts: we already exhausted more than 50% of available oil and with the current pace of consumption it’ll drain
itself by 2050!!!. If the pace will keep rising, most of us will live to see the day that it is
over.
In order to cope with that, there are already plenty of alternatives and more steps to take to reduce
the problem. Some of them are basic small baby steps with significant impact such as changing energy consumption
habits (see more on the energy saving tips page). There are more
actions that go to the government level (such as bills and financing the green energy while penalizing the other
sources of energy consumption).
The most significant steps and the simplest ones are to start using several renewable sources of
energy that are available to any one of us such as the sun, wind and water. With very small investment anyone can
build a Home Power system that will cater for his own home power needs. This investment in many places, subsidized
by local and government departments so the return on investment is quick and absolute.
BUT IT IS ALL START WITH AWARENESS
Any citizen of the world must ask “Am I doing enough on that front?” and if you care about the future
of the next generations, take an action and build your
Home Solar system or Wind power system with Earth 4 Energy guide
